Juvenal's quote on how to superficially appease the masses via 'Bread and Games' led to an imaginative romp through a reimagined Rome. A large bird flutters over the strangely half formed city, swirling itself into existence. It explores the heritage of Roman civilisation, the modern Western World as the descendants of this earlier culture. I wanted to create a sense of the alien, how history and the lives it contains seems always so foreign as we grapple with ideas and norms which often disgust us.
