Portrait of Hannah Keime, created for the Mortal and Strong charity exhibition 'Scars of Gold'. The title refers to Hannah's sudden cardiac arrest at just 17, on October 23rd. Written into the background, erased, scratched and overpainted the date shifts and appears again. Hannah's life was saved thanks to a timely diagnosis of HCM and an implanted defibrillation device. She featured as a Voice on the Mortal and Strong podcast alongside her sister, Bethany Keime, together they formed the advocay non-profit HeartCharged. Using muted colours and creating the figure from composite photographs the painting has a dreamlike quality to it.
