The series celebrates Heart Warriors, people living with cardiac conditions and implanted cardiac devices. Working in experimental mixed media, Kirkham is developing a series of portraits that draw on music, photography and imagination to honour survival, resilience and the beauty of bionic bodies. Each work recognises the quietly extraordinary experience of living thanks to technology.

Charlie Kirkham is currently in the research and development stage of a new body of work, supported by Arts Council England's Developing Your Creative Practice fund (2025–26).
